Hannah's Room - February 2018
By Christian Graham
This was a small personal project made over the course of a weekend. I wanted a unique way to surprise my girlfriend with a beach trip for our anniversary so I decided I would make a small game. In the game I recreated her room and sent her on a scavenger hunt to find various items. Once all the items were found the door was unlocked and she was free to walk out onto the beach.
This was one of the first games I ever experimented with sound attenuation within Unreal Engine 4. Adding sound attenuation to certain objects such as the ceiling fan, stereo, and toilet helped to increase the polish and overall feel of the final product.
In this game I developed a system in which it's extremely easy to set up and send UI prompts in the form of text messages. This is one of my favorite parts of any game I've ever made as it increases immersion exponentially and is extremely scalable. I plan on using this system in a future game. The text system can be seen in the bottom right .gif of the images below.
